William H. Levin v Joseph Ingley and John Wyatt Lee,—Defendants were charged with having, between the 14th day of March aud the 18th day of September, 1883, unlawfully and wickedly conspired, confederated and agreed together to defraud the New Zealand Trust and Loan Company (limited) of tho sum of five thousand pounds. By arrangement the defendants were remanded on bail until 2nd December.

Constable Eccleton v Arapere.— Drunk and disorderly, The constable failing to prove the drunkenness, the case was dismissed and a fresh information for fighting in the. public street preferred, which was also dismissed.

Constable Eccleton v Ampere.—' Using obscene language in the public street, Fined 58 or 24 hours.

A case against Martini Te Ore for being drunk and disorderly was also dismissed as the constable failed to prove the drunkenoss. .

Another information was then laid against the defendant for fighting in the street, Mr Gray for the defendant, explained the conduct of defendant, and, as the constable did not see any blows struck the case was dismissed, Constable Eccleton v Hawea Pita.— Eurious riding. Same v. Same.—This was a charge under section 10 of the Babbit Nuisance Act. The defendant was fined £35 and costs, being £5 per month for soven months subsequent to the last conviction.

There was only one civil case on the list, and in this judgment was entered on confession.

Sir,—Having heard remarks made in several quarters lately about" the age of some of the candidates for the scholarships in the gift of the Education Board, the examination for which will take place in Greytown next week, I think it would remove all dissatisfaction if the Education Board, before finally allotting the scholarships to the successful candidates, should insist that a certificate of birth from the RegistrarGeneral's Department be produced, I am, &c„ A Parent.
