CORRESPONDENCE.
To iHB Editor. Sir,—l see by your report of Mr A. J. Hathaway's creditors that he has placed me down as a debtor to the extent of £l2O. He must have been very hard up for assets if the only two appearing in the report (viz: my own and Mr McEwen's) is a sample. As to his statement of commission due to him by me it is- imaginary. He was never spoken to by me to try and sell the hotel; neither did 'he carry through the transaction, nor was he present when the bargain was made, in fact, never connected with it in any way. Ho .must be troubled with commission on. the brain. I would like to know whether it was on the strength of my debt that hovincurred the liability of £263 V At any rate, it must be- clear to everyone that a man in. Mr Hathaway's position would hot have allowed me: to owe -him £l2O
for six months without making single claim for the momey. I think it would have been more manly for him to have put down assets nil, (and do the gentleman properly), than to trump up a lot of fictitious assets to mislead his creditors, Yours trriy, J. H. Corbett.
