CRICKET.
The members of the "Wellington Working Men's Club paid a visit to Greytown on New Year's Day to play the members of the Greytown Working Meii's Club. The day was beautifully fine, and the game a most enjoyable one, The visitors- had a good team, and on this occasion meant' to wipo out the defeat of 1883, which tliey did very comfoitably, owing principally to the weak bowling of ;the home.team and to the very bad fielding, which was soon at almost every turn, Predeaux alone being badly missed seven or eight different times, For tho visitors,. Predeaux, Willis, and Staples shewed grand batting form, and for the Home team Gray and Somerville played very much better than the average, Very little can bo said for the match, as regards cricket, beyond what has already been said, but both teams enjoyed themselves immensely, as did several of the onlookers, The Greytown Band was in attendance, Mr S, J. Lewis, the energetic Greytown photographer, took two views of the players during the day. Appended are the scores:—
