Received April 17, 2.45 p.m.—The annual report of the Australian Mutual Providence Society for last year shows that the business was larger than that of any previous year, and comprised 6100 policies for assurances, amounting to £2,280,000, and new premiums amounted to £92,500. The . accumulated fund has been increased by £520,000,.and-stands' at £4,350,000. The total annual revenue is now £885,000, and the receipts from interest exceeds the amounts paid for death claims by £68,000. The seventh quinquennial division of surplus will be made up to the end of the year and hereafter profit be divided annually. LONDON, April 16. The markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are unchanged. MELBOURNE, April 17. The Colonial Bank of Australia at Brunswick, two and a half miles from this city, was robbed to-day of £6OO. The theft , was committed during office hours. The'manager was momentarily absent, and upon his return found that a drawer had been unlocked and the money abstracted.
