The installation of the officers for tho ensu fag j ear of tho above Lod«e took place last evoning at tho Lodge-room, Empire Hotel, Masterton. The ocaasion was tho festiv il of St Juhu the Evangelist, and a banquok to celebrato it had .been prepared by Bro. Corbett. The Lodge was tyled.about 7 p.m., when the following visitors were present : Acting "Distriot Grand Master, Bro, E, T. Gillon (installing officer) j Bro, Baillie, P.M. ■Greytowu Lodge, E.C.; Bro. Blair, P.M. St■ Andrew's Lodge, E.G. (Wellington); Bro. D. Mcintosh, W.fcl, Ma3tortoa Lodgo, E.O. ; Bro. R,, Brown, W.M. Elect Masterton Lodge, E.O. Three candidates were initiated, after which the installation was proceeded with, Bro. J, H. Gorbetc being duly installed and proolaimod Bight Worshipful Master, and silutod as such by the brethren in each degree.' The other officers were then invested as follows:—Bro. L. J. Hooper, IP. M.; Bro, J. Nicol, D.M.; Bro R, Darby, S.Jt.; Bro J.Kay, S.W.; Bro B. J. Marley, J.W.; BroF. Gray, Treasurer; Bro H. Bentley, .Seoretary; Bro D. Piokering, S.D. ; Bro W. Lundqvist, J.D. j Bro A. McHutchon and J. MoKenzie. Stewards; Bro J. Clayson, I.G. ; Bro E. S, Richards, Tyler; Bro H. Pearson, Orgauist. The installation ceremony wis ably and impressively performed by Bro E, T. Gillon, who afterwards highly oompliniented' the. Lodge on its very' efficient working, as noticed by him that evening.
After the Lodge was duly closed the brethren adjourned to the banquet room, where an excellent repast was laid out in * mauner which showed tho supervision of an artist in that line. The banquet, we need, hardly say, under such circumstances, .was done full jußbioe to, and a most enjoyable, evening spent by all. The usual toasts were giveaand responded to, andspeeches, songs, and music filled up the intervals. Amongst the remarks which • fell from the Acting District Grand Master was one, which all members ef the' craft,will fully [concur in; vizj, that it would bo a good thing if, instead of New Zealand Masons working under three different constitutions—E.o, 3.0., and 1.0.-a New Zeaund Constitution could be formed; au! 8r0..' Gillon expressed''the' opinion that the time was,not far distent when, tliis wouU h e the case. He also stated Ahatthe' Grand Master of the 8.0. in the 'North Island (Bro. P. Whittaker) would pay an official visit- to Lodge Thistle, in a month's time., The proceedings were brought 'to-a close with W ''Tyler's"Toast," and the brethren separated shortly after 13.
