~:':.——~*l~___- v'\ : :.A meeting of the Board was held at lenul on Saturday last. Present-Messra Miokay (Ohaiiman), Langdbn, Belliss, Smyth,'and Miller.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The treasurer reported'-balance available for future expenditure £96312 a id. _ <4 Thewagos bills w?re read and passed for. payment, and the report of clerk of works was readand considered, '
The following correspondence.was,then read:—From Mr J. Langdon,' agreeing to allow a road line throti(|h section 8S1; from the Returning Officer, stating that Mr J. S. Handyside had been elected Warden for No. 7 Ward, in place of Mr W."A. Burling* who had lost his seat through non-attendance atthe meetings; from Mr R. Hughea, le calvert at his shop; from Mr Gawith, re lease of toll-gate; from Mr Wilsons, with copy of resolutions re expenditure of £SO on Wakaroro road, and payment of amounts already' expended by. this Board in making roads for opening up Crown Lands, 1 and stating'that the work woposed.by this Board between Castlepoint and Waimata under the Roads and Bridges Act could not be undertaken by the engineer before January, and that other works. were included in the schedule to be sent in to the Government; from Mr Niohols, applying for a refund of 5t for repairs Tenui Bridge. :": '■: BKOtVED. v r ; . That the Clerk of Works take the necessary steps towards metalling the road between the wool storo and the creek at Caatle Point.--,-■•.>,'■:
- .That an extra grant of £l4 4s 9d be made fdr repairs on Pakowai road, and that a bow drain be opened between the telegraph office and the Hotel at Tinui, and the road formed between the Hotel and the paddock. ' /■-. That the road up Whakaroro towards Crown Lands be opened, and that Mr Elder receive notice to that effect.
. That the Clerk be directed to draw out an agreement with Mr Biddle for the purchase of the ford and the use of the site for the cradle at Upper Whareama, and whon com. pleted to pay him Thatthe Clerk, arrange with Mr Macara re Tenui Toll Gate as soon us, possible. •That a sum of money nt exceeding £ls lie expended" in repairs bn the Uritiroad from Mungapakeha towards Blairlogie. • That tbe bridge near, Mr Wills be repaired provided the residents interested subscribe £9 or half tho costs,
That a Bum of £2O be expended in lowering the road over the Mataikuna reef,.and that the roadbetwcji the statioa and tho beach at Mataikuna be repaired, The following accounts were passed for payment l-Castlepoint road wages, £ll 10s; Mungapakeha line, £8 8s; No 2 Ward. £3los jNo 3 Ward, £3 10s jNo i Ward, £5 Is 6d; No 5 Ward, £5 18s; No 6 Ward, £2053; No 7 Ward, £4 10s; A, MoHutchoh, salary, £l3 14s; Pakowai road towards Whareama, £4 4s; B. Hughes, ironwork,. Elol6s U ; grazing horse, £2 10s •No l" Ward, £5; Ohonga Ferry rent, £lO. The next meeting will be held on 7th January, 1883. '
