HEAVY PENALTY UNDER BEER DUTY ACT.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Ashbueton, Feb. 17. The.firm of Wood & Co. was fined £9O at the Court this afternoon for infringements of the Beer Dnty Aot, The Collector of Customs prosebuted. The charges comprised failing to affix duty stamps on the right places on casks, so as to ensure distinction, and bottling on the brewery premise's, &e, The base of Quinton Bros, of the Alford Forest Brewery, Ashburton, iB coming on shortly; The beer remains under lock and key until the Commissioner of Customs diotates its disposal.
