GREYTOWN SCHOOL.
A meeting of the Greytown School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present-Messrs W. G. Beard (in the clmir), F, H. 'Wood, and J. Cotter. The nunutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as follows: From the Chairman, re his absence from the meeting, and calling the attention of the committee to the circular of the Education Board; from Mr Bock, _ apologising for his absence, and reporting on compulsory clauses; from Dr Spratt,re vaccination of the school children; circular from the Board re compultory clauses, ami also corporal punishment. Re vaccinatian, tho head master reported that Dr Spratt intended to visit the school on the following day and would examine the children, either at the school, or at their homes, or at his surgery. Mr Cotter objected to the school being made the soene of an examination of the children. It was explained that the matter retained with the parents ol the children, whether they had them examined at home or elsewhere, it wa3 therefore decided not to interfere with the matter. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Cotter, seconded by Mr Wood that the compulsory clauses of the Education Act be brought , into operation, and that th# Chairman be requested to inform the constable of the action of the committee, and draw his attention to the clausn of the act, bearing on the subject. It was decided that Mr Cotter see the Eev. H. V, White and ask him to inform the Secretary of the Board that the capitation for the June half year should have been based on 180, and not on ISO childr«n as the Board had p&id, alio to get
lis Board to forward at once the easels vbioh are urgently required. The head master's report for the nonth was read. r ' Accounts amounting to £lolsa 9d were passed for payment. Messrs Cotter and St George were apminted visiting members for the ensuing nonth. '
