THE FIRE AT DUNEDIN.
(PER PItESS AGENCY.) In connection with tho Octagon fire, portions of the remains of .mother body, making the eleventh, were found this morning; they were that of a young man apparently about twenty years of age, but the position in which they were found shows that it is barely possible that they can be those of the late Mr, Wilson's eldest son. The body of the woman has been identified as that of Margaret McCarthy, servant to the Wilsons. _ During the whole of. the day Corporation day men have been engaged removing the debris from the building, and the results of their labors have been most anxiously watched by many persons, At a little after fouro clock another body was discovered on the second floor of tlio building; thus bringing the total recovered up to twelve, It was that of a man, but has not yet been identified. W. B, Dobson, who had been employed by the bailiff of the Resident Magistrate's Court, is reported to be missing. He had a week ago expressed his intention of taking a room at Ross' Buildings. An enquiry into the origin of the fire will be held on Thursday afternoon. There is not the slightest reason for believing that the fire was the work of an incendiary. A report was circulated this afternoon that five persons had been apprehended in connection therewith. The inquest on the bodies will be held at the end of the week, and will be merely formal A meeting of the Fire Underwriters' Association was held in the Associations' office this afternoon, when a resolution was supported to the effect that the present means for extinguisning fires possessed by the city are not as perfect as they might be, and requesting the Council to take the matter into their immediate consideration. The Council intend to erect electric fire alarm signals throughout the city.
