TINUI
(from our own correspondent.) Sept. 4th, 1879. The weather for the last iveek lias been very fine, and consequently the roads are improving, but it will be some time before we can expect anything like traffic, The Highway Beard is doing much to improve the state of affairs, but report says that unless help is obtained -in the shape of a
loan, or Government grant, the Mungapakelia road will have to remain in its present state, as the fundi available are totally insufficient for clearing the numerous slips on this newly formed road. I see there are two more slips near the roadman's house, which will be expensive to clear. Tho contractors at the lower end of the valley are making goed progress, and no doubt will finish the work in contract time, The Licensing Court should have met . on Tuesday, but for want of a quorum lapsed, A special meeting of the Highway Board comes off to-day, to consider the tenders received for leasing the Tmui tollgate. I believe Mr Bover was the successful tenderer, at Ll2O per annum.
