On Tuesday evening the wellknown and talented Black Family opened a two-night season in Waimato, there being a very good audience, who thoroughly enjoyed the programme presented to them. ■ This is in the nature of a drawing room entertainment, and its brightness never fails to please. The Family are all clever instrumentalists, and their concerted pieces were much enjoyed. Miss Nellie Black is of course the star of the company, and her voice is very highly spoken of. In addition, she played several violin solos in a finished manner. Mr Black’s pawky Scotch songs were appreciated, and ho never failed to secure an encore. A couple of comic sketches in character, by Mr and Miss Black evoked considerable merriment. Master Bertie Black danced a hornpipe; in good style, and produced music from all sorts and conditions of instruments, while Misses Elsie and Doris contributed several entertaining items, in addition to their part in the instrumental selections. An entire change of programme was billed for last ovenin".
