Cattle —150 head of cattle, including a few heavy wethers and a lot of lighter sorts, were yarded and met keen competition. The market was easier. The bulk were unfinished, and at there was a large supply of prime merino wethers, competition was mostly in the hands of local trade. Export buyers were not much in evidence. Pnoes for all sorts, especially ewes were firmer. Extra heavy wethers sold at 225, 23s bcl up to 27a, freezers 16a, 20a, unfinished 13s to 16s, heavy ewes 21s 3d to22s9d, prime 17a 6d to 20s, others 13? 6d to 16a, prime merino wethers 18s to 21b 6d, good 14s 8d Jo 15s 9d, others I3s to 14s, fat lambs lls to 16s. Store she p were a mixed y-wding of 1480, but owners would not accept the prices offered, and nearly all were withdrawn. ’1 he only sab » were 103 hoggets at 9s lid, 85 ewes wiih 120 per cent of lambs at 8» 9d (all counted), 143 merino ewes at 4s 6d. Pig ß . 450 pigs were penned’ Ane sale was easier, and as the stores were mostly inferior, tho demand fell off. Bsconers fetched 38s, 535, to 68s for heavy : porkers, 22s to 35s ; large stores, 16s to 20s; smaller, 8s to 14*.
