WANTED—LETTER BOXES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I rend in your paper of date July Ist, ro the extension of the delivery of letters around Waimate, and all will agree that this is a step taken by the Postal Department in the right direction, and one that was greatly needed. Now, sir, there is one more item needed to complete the new arrangements, which I would suggest through your paper to the Postal Department on behalf of a large number of residents living about half mile from one end of the boundary of the new extension of the delivery of letters and a mile the other end, which reaches Painstown and the Govern* ment Reserve residents, namely, that the Postal Department should place letter boxes, say, one at the end of Parsonage Road, and one at Mr Hutt’s corner and in a line with Mill Road. This would complete the much needed want and it would not cost the Department any further expense in emptying ihe boxes, as the letter carrier could empty them on his round once a day. Hoping to see this carried out for the benefit of a large number of residents—l am, etc. Wm. Petit.
