THE FARMERS’ UNION.
TO TH» EDITOR. Sib, —In your report of Mr Douglas’ address to the above Union on Saturday last it appears to mo that Mr Douglas told the meeting that the farmers, if they gave way to the demands of one union, would have a ploughman’s union making demands. For the information of Mr Douglas and the members of his Union, we wish farmers to understand that the Waimate Workers’ Union is the only union that ploughmen can vent their grievances through ; and further, that no class of agricultural workers can form a union while the Workers’ Union is in existence. Mr Douglas should, as president of the Farmers' Union, know this, and not, by making statements that have no foundation in fact, agitate his fellow-members into a state of uncontrollable fright against those whom it should be their duty and their interest to assist. —I am, &c„ S. Bokbham, Secretary W.W.U.
