Householders' Meeting.

REDCLIFF. The meeting was very poorly attended, about a dozen householders being present. This was no doubt due to the fearful state of the middle road, and the impassability of the main road, no steps having yet been taken to repair the bridge destroyed by the late flood, and partly to tho absence of any existing cause, as the past year nad been a very quiet one, teachers, parents and committee having worked harmoniously together. Mr McGregor read the report of the outgoing committee, which in substance was as follows :

Balance sheet—The books duly audited showed a credit balance of £7 5s A new room had been added to the school at a cosu of £lO, the committa carting the materials gratuitously. Mrs Gough, Gubbins, was . appointed mistress in January, the school average entitling an addition to the teaching staff at the end of the September quarter. The Inspector's report showed that with the exception of Standards IV and V work was being doue in the school. The attendance in those standards had been very, broken and irregular. The committee had been unable to carry out their intention of holdiD? a school treat in the autumn owing to the protraoted harvest. The bad weather had delayed the erection of the new gate, which the committee hoped would have been completed. it was nroposed by Mr J. Breen, seconded by Mr J. Wall, that the report be adopted. Carried unanimously. Considerable difficulty was experienced in getting seven gentleman to form a committee, several declining to stand. At length Messrs A. McDonald, J. Wall, Davidltoss, R. Finlayson, W. McGregor, M. Mcßae and J. Breen were appointed, a ballot being unnecessary as no other nominations were received. At a meetheld afterwards Mr David Ross was appointed chairman.
