Our Volunteers.

The fortnightly inspection ( parade of the Waimate Rifles wat held last evening, 35 men being prasent under Lieutenant Jackson. One member was proposed. After parade Lieutenant Jackson intimated that volley firing would take place on Thursday next, January 16, at 2.30 p.m., and hoped every member of the corps would be ptesent. He also stated that classfiring wonld be resumed and requested every member to get it finished before the end- of this month, as when the class and volley-firing ' was completed the Laa-Enfield rifles would bo issued. A competition for Lance Corporals will take place on next parade.
