A Morris Tube match was fired on Thursday evening last in the Drillshed, between sides picked by Lance-corporal Thomas and Corporal Porter, resulting in a win for the latter's side by 19 points. A match men picked by Lieut. Studholme and Sergt. Wain was fired on tha Studholme and Waimate ranges on Thursday, the No. 1 Division under Lieut. Studholme proving victorious, Trooper 8 Lindsay being top with 83 out of a possible of 105. The f»ay was very wet and shooing was uncomfortable work. After the range match the men adjourned to a store kindly lent by Mr Quinn, where the Studholme team again asserted their superiority in a morris tube match. Sergt. Dunbar was highest in this match with 22 out of 25. The match being over, a visit was paid to Host Herbert, who also put up a good score. A splendid repast was provided. Cipt. Garland occupied the chair with Lieut Studholme on his right and Serg's Dunbar in the vice-chair. At the concluiion of the dinner the company drank the health of the host with musical honours. In responding. Mr Mann expressed his pleasure at catering for the Studholme Mounted Rifle 3 and his wi»h that they would hold another match at Studholme this year. Bong 3 were contributed by Messrs Horley and Atwill, jar., and a stump speech by Mr Mann, a very pleasant gathering breaking up at 10 p.m.
