The Waimate Hockey Club held a very successful practice match on Thursday afternoon, teams being picked by the captain and vicsct'.Dtain. The recant dry weather had had a beneficial effect on the ground, which was in good condition for play, and this was taken advantage of by the backs, some very good hitting being shown. The game resulted in a win for the cxptam's tsain by eight goals to four. A meeting of the committee was held in the evening to consider the question of sending representatives to the forthcoming match North Canterbury v. South Canterbury. Mr C. J. Goldstone was voted to the chair, and read correspondence from tha Timaru and Aohourton Clubs. Mr A. Berry was appointed delegate to represent Waimatc at a conference of the South Canterbury Clubs, to be held in Timaru on Thursday afternoon next, and the ■following players were nominated for a place in the representative team -.--Forwards, Berry, Coxon, Healey and Beeves ; three-quarters, J Q. Manchester and C. 'J. Goldstone ; half-back, W; George ; full-back, A. Butcher.
