Waimate Bowling Club.

The annual meeting of the above club was held in the Pavillion on Thursday evening ; present —Messrs J. H. Dean (president) in the chair, Nicol, Atwill, Inkster, Hutt, Scott, Evans, Wilson, C. Akhurst, Coltman, Goldstone and J. P. Smith (secretary). The election of officers resulted as follows: President, W. L. Scott; vice-president, C. J. Goldstone ; secretary and treasurer, J. P. Smith (re-elected); committee, Messrs Nicol, W. Evann, H. Wilson and C. Akhurpfc, in conjunction with the other officers ; ground committee, Messrs 11. Wilson and Li. Nicol. It was resolved to refund to Dr Barclay £25 and interest. The balance sheet showed the Club to be in a thoroughly financial position, Messrs C. Akhurst and W. Menzies were elected members of the Club. The annual report was read as follows: Your committee have pleasure in submitting their report for year ending August Bth, 1901. The green was opened on November Ist, and to celebrate the occasion the usual matcb, president v. vicepresident, was played, and a very enjoyable game resulted, the ladies very kindly providing afternoon tea. During the first half of the season, the wsather was very much against the game, but the last half of the season the green was in very good order indeed, and some very good form was shown at times by the members who put in most practice. Two very enjoyable games were arranged against the Phoenix Club (Oainaru), one in Waimate on February 14th, and the other on the Oamaru Club's own green on February 24sfc, when the Waimate players had a moat enjoyable outing, although they did sufter defeat on eaoh oooasion. Your committee would like members to put in more practice, and

try to put a foreign team during this incoming season. Your committee regret that Messrs Fletcher, Humphries and Co.'s bowls are still undecided, and would urgetnembers to p'ay their games oT more promptly, as this is the only key to success in these games. Some very good play was indulged in for the pair of silver badges, the holders, Messrs Hertslett and Smith, never being beaten during the season. In conclusion, your committee consider on glancing over the balance sheet that the Club is in a very fair financial position, and trust with ! some good new members about to join for the incoming season, that the VVaimate Bowling Club's season, 1901 and 1302, will tie crowned with success. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
