The Seventh Contingent
GinisouNE, February 25. T ie Gisborne section of the Seventh* Contingent numbers 12, wi'h two emergency men. They wore despatched to Wellington by the Te Ariau last night in charge of Sergeant-Major Finn. The mm wore given a great se id-o.f, the City and playing t'nnn to the steamer. Some of the men left at a moment’s notice, not having .received notice till Satmday morning. Wanganui, February 25. The Wanganui section of the Seventh Contingent was entertained at luncheon to-day and loft by the express for Wellington, receiving a hearty send-off. Wellington, February 26.
Twenty men of the Wellington quota of the Seventh Contingent went into camp at Newtown Park to-day. The men from th other districts are arriving.

At Timaru on Monday-36 men were put through the riding test, four being unable to pass. The following Waimate men passed:—A. 3. Whitney, A. D. Gibson, A. W. Goldstone, J. Isbister and E. A. Adams. Captains J. T. M. Hayhurst, of the Souih Canterbury Mounted Rifles, Bruce Gillies, of the Madk-mzie Mounted Rifles, and Buckley, of .the Ashburton Mounto i Rifles, acted as judges, and Sergeant-Major James com-, raauded the men. Lieutenant-Colone’ Bailey was also present. Th South Canterbury portion of the Seventh Contingent will proceed to Christchurch by express, 5 p.m., from, Timaru on Thursday, 28th. Tne Battalion Band and as many of the i'imaru volunteers as can attend are invited to parade at the same time to give their' comrades a fitting send-off.
