A depntation from the Waknate A. and P> Association, consisting of Messrs McLennan, OBrien, MeL9an, C. Akhurst (secretary) and Dr Barolay, waited, yesterday afternoon, on Mr Priest, representing rtbe Implement j Manufacturers' Association, with refer- ' <ence to the action of the latter in excluding the Waimate Show from the ■ list of showß at which implements will . be on exhibition. The Mayor introduced the deputation and explained the object the association had in bringing the matter forward. He pointed out that the A. and P. 'Association had jneveased Sroni 60 members ta 120 ■within the last few mouths, and how unfair it was, and injudicious for the makers themselves, to cease exhibiting in a district where agriculture was so .markedly on the increase, and where the agricultural interest was so rapidly loriuing itself into a powerful society. Mr Priest jioirvted out that the implement makers were at great expense in sending their ware? for exhibition at .small shows, and that it did not pay ihem. He said larger shows than Waimafce had been cut out, such as Jjeeston and Bangiora. It was very to open up the whole question. It was pointed out that the arguments ysfomrjg to other shows did not hold good as regards Waimate, that between the Tiojaru and Oatnaru Shows the implements had to be stored somewhere, and the extra cost to r-ail them from the main line was trifling.
