Cricket.

The annual meeting of the Waiana'a Cricket Club was held in St. Augustine's schoolroom on Friday evening, there being a rather poor attendance of members. The report and balance sheofc for the season 1899-1900 showed that last year has not been equal to many former years. Only lour foreigu matches had been played, Waimate winning two and losing one, while one was <3sravrn. A visit had been received from the Sydenham Club, and it was intended to send a team to Christchurch bhis season to return the visit. During the season, the .clr.b hud sustained a severe loss through the energetic secretary, Mr H. R. Asquifch, leaving the district, .and his successor,, Mr Thomas, also ircmoved before the end of the :season. The following -officers were elected : — Pafcron, Hon. Major Steward, M.H.8. ; president, T. 'Teachemaker, TCsq. ; vice-presidents, ■ Dr Barclay, Captain Garland, U. Wright and J. F. Douglas, Esq. ; •captain, Mr TC, O. Studholtne ; vice■capfcain, Mr N. Pranois ; secretary, Mr 0. J. Goldstone ; committee, Messrs Jones, Hamilton, and ■■Griffin ; selector, Mi 1 E, C, Studholme. The commifctee were instructed to get the ground prepared. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring officers, and to those gentlemen who promised trophie3 last season.
