Country News. KAPUA SCHOOL.

On Thursday, August 80th, a concert was held in the school room. The meeting, which was by invitation, was made the occasion of celebrating the opening of the extensive additions recently placed to the above school. The programme, consisting of songs, ■choruses, recifcatic ns, and dialogues, was provided almost wholly by the children attending the school, and reflected great credit on the teacher, Miss Fyffe, who had evidontly been at more than usual pains to train the children in the efficient perfornaxDce of the various items given. Among the many songs, " The Japanse Fan Song " And " The Soldiers of the Queen " must be mentioned as worthy of special praise. Miss Eva Fyffe vrry efficiently played the aecoinjjmiinenfcs. During an interval, refreshments, kindly provided by the ladies of the district, were landed round to the large audience. The chairman of the School Committee, Mr T. Dug-dale, occupied the chair for the evening. Hearty votes of votes of thanks were passed to the teacher, the organist, and to -all who had co willingly helped to moke the evening such a pleasant #ne. The singing of the National Anthem by the children and the audience brought a most successful meeting to a close. The children At the close were abundantly provided with fruit.
