CARRINGTON'S FORCE.
Mi M'Culloch,a Magistrate stationed in Rhodesia, is at present on a visit to New Zealand, on kayo. In the course of a chat with a representative of the /-shLurton Mail. Mr McCuUoch said that the Dutch, who are pretty numerous in that large district, are generally loyal, so far. But, all the same, a force to defend the frontier bfetwten lihodosia and the Tri.uifc.vaal is required to prevent cha Boecs from entaiing. 'that province when their country is occupied by the Biitish. Colonel Plnmer had the charge of the bolder p^ior to his being sens to the relief of Mafeking, and now it is piactically unprotected, It would, therefore, seem probable that Sir F. Carnngton's 'orce is intended to watch the frontier, and not to proceed to Mafeking as was generally supposed. The journey from Beira, to strike the railway line from Buluwayo to Mafeking would take at least iouv weeks, so that lfe is evident Carriugfcon's column could not have been incladed in the scheme for the relief of the gallant Colonel at Mafeking. Mr M'Culloch says that whatever may be the destination of Carnngton's forct;, it will meet with no opposition anywhere in Rhodesia except from Transvaal Boers.
