FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
The Southern Times says : — A rumour has been current to the effect that the Ocean Beach freezing Works were likely to changehandstand it is now said that the works have been 'bought by an American steamship line doing business between New York and the colonies, that found the Tyser line of steamers severe competitors through their command of freight, whicL. the Americans had not. If this ia a true statement of the case, it is evident that the New York ships will shortly be at the Bluff. But this hardly means the advent of an additional line of ocean steamers at the port, for if they are to be favoured with. the meat trade now in the bands of the Tyser Company, this line will probably have to look for cargo at other New Zealand ports.
