All classes of stock were well represented and busmebs m nearly every department was brifak.

CATTLE. 240 head of fat cattle proved too ranch 1 for the trade mid a diop of fully 10s per head took place. Sixteen bullocks from the North Island brought £Q 5s to £9 ss. Canterbury steers £5 to £8, hoifer», jC3 10s to J66 15s, and cows £3 to £5 10s. Per 1001b prime beef is quoted at 17s to 1 18s 6d, medium to good 15s to 16s, inferior (iown to 12s. Sheep. — There was a heavy yarding of f=it sheep and all classes were Well represented. Export buyers competed freely, and last week's rates were well maintained. Butchers sheep •were inegnlar, ioo many being in, but piicei were faivly maintained until nearly the close. Freezing sheep sold at 12* 6d to 15s, unfinished wethers and maiden ewes 11s to 12s, best butchers' eweß 12s to 13s, medium to good do 9s to 11s, and others down to 6s. 4160 fat lambs came to hand. Better sorts •old well for export at from 11s to 13s, butchers 8s 6d to 10s 6d, unfinished lots down to 7s. In store sheep there was kaen competition in all classes, and a good clearance was made. Wethers sold at 9s 6d to 11s sd, ewes and wethers 9s 3d to 10s 7d, dry ewes 5s Id. and ewes and lambs at 7s, all counted, lambs 8s 2d to 9a lid. Pigs. — There was a full supply. Baconers brought froni 45s to 63s 6d, porkers 26s to 1 403, stores 20s to 30a 6d, weaners 13a 6d to i&s, aud suckers 10s to 11s 6d.
