A BATTLE ROYAL
TOSH AND KATHBELLA
FINISH STRIDE FOR STRIDE IN SPRINT AT TE AROHA.
The Farewell Handicap at Te Aroha on Monday provided a great finish and the victory went to Tosh, r»ho had a battle royal over the last mrlong with Kathbella. The pair came home almost stride for stride, and Tosh just held a slight advantage afttfr being very vigorously ridden by H. N. Wiggins. Kathbella ran one of her best races and is an improver who may soon win in open company. Mon Actfe came from well back for third, and Gay Cifou, after looking likely as the field straightened up, ran a good fourth. Maxam and Farland were prominent in the running and were right in the picture until well inside the last furlong. Maori Song made an effort on the outside in the straight but could not make much impression. Bachelor King was nicely placed behind the leaders entering the straight but failed to finish.
