OLD BOYS DEFEATED. E. FLEET SCORES 66. (Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Feb. 28. The Rangitikei cricket competition was continued on Saturday, when | Taihape Railway defeated Old Boys i at Taihape. While Taihape Town accounted for Porewa and are now ; leading in the competition Old Boys | made 120 runs against Taihape Rail-: way, the principal being Beechey (28), Lambert (28), Jolly! (23). Railway replied with 174, of! which E. Fleet contributed 66, while i Holmes made 41. Fleet’s score included three sixes and seven fours. Details are as follow: Old Boys.—C. A member of the committee of the Taihape Amateur Athletic Club, Mr. D. Treadwell, distinguished himself at. the twilight sports held last Friday by winning the half-mile cycle, followed by the half-mile run. The half-mile was held immediately after the cycle race and it speaks well for Treadwell’s physical fitness when he was able to win both events. He also competed in the relay race. FALL FROM ROOF Falling from the roof of a building on Mr. G. W. Batley’s property, at Moawhango, on Monday, Mr. A. Berryman suffered a fractured arm, and was admitted to the Taihape Hospital for treatment. FITNESS PARADE “Fitness Week” celebrations will be concluded to-morrow (Thursday) with a grand parade and demonstration. The procession will leave the school at 1.30 p.m., led by the Taihape Municipal Band. Mr. R. B. Schulze will be in charge of the parade, which will march through the main street on its way to the Recreation Ground, where a varied and interesting programme will be presented including physical drill display, cycling and running races, novelty events, band items, baseball, and a fire brigade demonstration. It is hoped that the public will turn up in large numbers for the occasion.
