PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE MEETING

A meeting of the Provincial Executive of the W.D.F.U. was held in the Y.M.C.A. room on Wednesday, Febru-. ary 22, at 1.30 p.m. The meeting opened with the reading of the Creed.

A motion of sympathy was extended to those who had suffered bereavements—Mrs. Hebbberd, Raetihi, Mrs. Soundy, and Mrs. Smith (Dominion secretary)—and to Mrs. Polson for her illness.

Apologies were received from Mrs. McGregor (Waitotara), Mrs. Polson (Mangawhero), Mrs. Mackintosh (Wangaehu), Mrs. Hunt (Waverley), Mrs. Morgan (Fordell-Mangamahu), Mrs. McKenzie (Westmere).

The president, Mrs. Mac Lean, welcomed the members present and wished them a happy year. The minutes of the last meeting

were read and passed. A deputation from the Farmers’ Union addressed the meeting about the Young Farmers’ Week to be hold in Wanganui in June, desiring the cooperation of the Women’s Division as regards the social side of their entertainment.

A motion was passed to this effect. It was decided to hold the up-river picnic on March 18. An invitation has been extended to members of the Farmers’ Union.

Mrs. Wickham reported on the housekeeping work in the district. Several remits were discussed and passed to be forwarded to the conference.

A vote of thanks to the Waitotara branch for supplying the afternoon tea was passed with acclamation. Those present were:—Mesdames A. H. Mac Lean, president, D. C. O’Leary, W. Baldwin (Wangaehu), W. Macfarlane, J. Newland (Waverley), J. C. Wickham, F. Spurdie, Scott, A. A. McPhail and Miss Polson (Wanganui), Mesdames J. Low (Makirikiri), Sherriff, B. McKenzie (Westmere), W. P. Jones (Okoia), J. G. Verry, A. A. Verry (Waitotara), R. Christie, Miss J. Macdonald, Miss Wyley (FordellMangamahu), Miss Morgan (Wanganui), Mrs. Norrie ((Westmere).
