Australian Manufacturers’ Visit.
A party of Australian manufacturers is to visit Auckland on March 7 and 8 in the course of a tour of the Dominion. The tour is- described by those responsible for the arrangements as a “reso” one, -this being an Australian coined word to describe a visit of investigation of resources. Information bearing on the tour has been given to the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association by the Department of Industries and Commerce, with the request that the association should arrange to conduct the party to factories engaged in industries in which members were interested. Room For 10,000,000 People. “We have the richest country in the world, which could hold 10,000,000 people, and we must modernise, we must keep in step with science, knowledge and invention. We must visualise the day when we will be a great nation,” said the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, speaking at a social gathering held in his honour at Kaea on Monday.
