BRIEF LIBERTY

PRISONER’S DASH FROM ESCORT [ Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 22. While being escorted by a police constable from the Magistrate's Court at Wellington to the central police station to-day, a young man who had pleaded guilty to a number of charges of breaking, entering and theft and had been committed ;o the Supreme Court for sentence, made a sudden dash for liberty. With a constable and detective close on his heels, the fugitive raced down to the waterfront and entered the wharves near the Lyttelton berth. His liberty was short, however, and within a few minutes of having made his escape he was arrested by a wharf constable.
