WORK FOR REFUGEE
AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY COLLEGE GOVERNMENT GRANT SOUGHT [ Pur PreH* Association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 21. A move to sound the possibility of employing distinguished scholars and i scientists among European political I refugees in New Zealand was made at la meeting of the Auckland University [ College Council. The subject was I introduced in committee while the I council was considering applications -for academic positions in the college received from overseas. 1 Subsequently it was reported by the president, Mr. W. H. Cocker, that the council had decided to ask the Government to provide £5OO a year for five years in order that the council might invite a distinguished scholar or scientist who was now a political refugee to become a temporary member of the college staff.
