AWAPUNI MEETINGS

MANAWATU’S NEW PERMIT The remaining permits of the Dannevirke Racing Club, those used in recent years for the meetings held at Woodville in April, have now been purchased by the Manawatu Racing Club, and they will be utilised in future for a steeplechase meeting at Awapuni early each winter. The

dates selected for this year’s meeting are May 19 and 20. It is understood that the consideration given by the Manawatu Club for the permits will enable the Dannevirke Club to wipe off its indebtednes and so be wound up. The other Dannevirke permit has been acquired by the Waverley Racing Club, which will hold two meetings each year in future. The Manawatu Hunt Club, whose permit was formerly used under an arrangement by the Manawatu Racing Club, has applied for the return of its permit, and, it is understood, intends to use it on July 29.
