PLUNKET SOCIETY

MARTON COMMITTEE MEETS. The Marton committee of the Plun ket Society held its meeting for Feb ruary on Monday. Present: Mcsdamc Tidy (chairman), Ingle, Harpur, Hal Howard. F. T. Harper, McCully, Sut cliffe, Ward and Miss Cook. Apolo gies were received from Mesdamc Stevens, Caithness, Kingdon, Stan ford, Wallace and Whitford. A resolution of condolence with th family of the late Mrs. Milne wa carried. Mrs. Milne had been a faith ful and valued supporter of the wor. for many years and appreciation wa expressed by those present of he constant interest, also of that of he daughters, Mesdames G. Galpin an J. Brice. The Ram Fair lunch brought in net profit of £8 16s 4d. On the motion of Mrs. Tidy, second ed by Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Basil Mar shall was selected to the committee. The financial position was place before the meeting, and it was fel that a donation to the re-building c the Truby King-Harris Hospital i Dunedin (the first hospital of th society and the Dominion trainin centre), could be made without goin, to the public either for this or for th ordinary expenses of the branch. Th committee is very pleased that th success of the photographic competi lion last February enables it to omi any money-raising effort for loca funds for the current year. A litth later on, when the Sir Truby Kin; Memorial fund for the whole countr; is launched, past and present parent: and children who have so great!; benefited by his noble work, may b( asked to share in the objects to whicl the fund will be devoted, with a smal amount each.
