PARTY AT PATEA

MISS G. TOMPKINS HONOURED. (Own Correspondent.) PATEA, Feb. 18. Mrs. T. E. Roberts entertained at a bright ‘‘contract and auction” party this week in honour of Miss G. Tompkins. Orange and tawny shaded marigolds, dahlias and lillies were tastefully arranged in the bridge room, and the hostess was wearing black French silk with floral design in puce, blue and grey penstemons. Miss Tompkins’ gown was of Swiss embroidered black lace, and a toning bouquet was presented to her on arrival. Quite a bright interval was introduced when Miss Taylor, of Nelson and formerly of Patea, joined the party by telephone, her friends availing themselves of the opportuni y to chat to her.
