AURIE’S STAR WINS STAKES AT CAULFIEUD AJAX REGISTERS FIFTEENTH SUCCESSIVE WIN Received Feb. 19, 7.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Feb. 19. Aurie's Star', with 9.12, won his second Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield today. This is the only occasion that the same horse has won twice. Ajax equalled Carbine's record of fifteen consecutive wins by brilliantly capturing the St. George’s Stakes. He received an ovation. The Chief results at the V.A.T.C. meeting are: — Bond Handicap. Buzalong 9.3 (Shean) 1, Respirator 8.1 (Bailie) 2, Kingdom 7.11 (Breasley) 3. Ten started, including Sir Regent. Half a head; three lengths.
Oakleigh Plate. (Of £1500; 5i furlongs). AURIE’S STAR, 9.12, Dewhursti PAMELUS, 9.10, Perry 2 UNISHAK, 7.9, Morris 3 Twelve started, including Stretto, Amiable and Disdain. Aurie's Star unwound a splendid run in the straight and won by three-quarters of a length from last year's winner, Pamelus, with the South Australian Unishak one and three-quarter lengtiis back, third. Disdain was fourth and then came Amiable and Stretto. 7 inie, 1.5 L St. George Stakes. (Of £1000; nine furlongs). AJAX, 9.0, Badger - 1 YOUNG IDEA, 9.2, Cox 2 SPEAR CHIEF, 9.0, McCarten ... 3 Six started, including Manolive. Leading all the way and with only Young Idea as a real challenger in the straight, Ajax won comlortably by a length and a-quarter. A similar distance separated second and third. Time, 1.514.
