PATEA SURF AND LIFE-SAVING CLUB Fourteen members of the Patea Surf Club left by the mail train last night to compete in the New Zealand surf championships at Milford Beach, Auckland. It is pleasing to note that C. Haining is able to make the trip. Haining is one of Taranaki’s leading beltmen and proved his ability by easily defeating Gayton, the noted Taranaki swimming champion, at Opunake last week. With five other first-class swimmers in Sopp, Adams, Pepperill, Oakley and Verney, Patea should be among the leading teams in the competitions.
