ARAMOHO SCHOOL

ANNUAL PICNIC HELD On Saturday last about 450 children, parents and supporters of the Aramoho School attended the annual picnic, which was held on Mr. W. H. Reid’s property, “Marahau,” Nukumaru, and a very enjoyable day was spent. The party proceeded by train, leaving Aramoho about 9 a.m. The picnic was the first held for some five years and the children were conveyed free of charge. During the day the children were provided with ice-creams, soft drinks, and apples, on the return journey each child received a bag of sweets. The programme of races was keenly contested by the children and each one of the primers received a prize. A chain-stepping competition for the ladies was also held and very keen competition was the result. Prior to the departure for home the chairman of the committee, Mr. W. G. Price, thanked the parents for their attendance and continued support and asked the children to express their appreciation of Mr. Reid’s generosity by giving him three hearty cheers, which were heartily given. Mr. T. E. Doudes, headmaster, expressed his appreciation and that ot the staff and the children for the enjoyable day which had been provided by the committee. A very tired but happy throng arrived back at Aramoho at 6 p.m.
