PROBATION FOR ONE YEAR

YOUNG MAN GUILTY OF FALSE PRETENCES Probation for one year was ordered Leonard Roy Everden, aged 31, motor mechanic, when he appeared before His Honour, Mr. Justice Recd, in the Supreme Court at Wanganui for sentence for false pretences. “You are a very foolish young man,” said His Honour. "Hitherto you have borne an excellent character and now you have spoilt it. I cannot understand it. I think that it ia a case for probation. You will be admitted to probation for one year on condition that you pay the costs of the prosecution, fl 95." Mr. N. R. Bain, Crown Prosecutor j at Wanganui, said that the prisoner had made co rplete restitution of the money involved.
