STATE HOUSING IN HUNTERVILLE
(Own Correspondent.) HUNTERVILLE, Feb. 14. At last night’s meeting of the Town Board correspondence was received from the Director of Housing in reply to a letter from the board stating that negotiations were in hand for the purchase of land and that as soon as possible a start would be made. The department had, however, received only four applications for houses and those who wished to rent a house were asked to forward their applications. Cr. Stratford, who recenly visited Wellington, reported that he had interviewed the department and had been advised that Hunterville was to have ten dwellings. The purchase 0,. land had been put in hand, but as the Government was building at present in 85 towns, difficulty was experienced with plans, etc.
A section at the north end of Paraekaretu Street, suggested by the department for a two-unit house, was approved on the motion of Crs. Smith and Donovan.
