(From Our Own Correspondents) BULLS Mr. P. B. Ackland, of Wanganui, is relieving manager of the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand during Mr. A. T. Shaw's absence on annual leave. I’ATEA Mrs. L. Hunt and Miss Jean Hunt were in Wanganui for the week. Miss Marie Stephens, New Plymouth, has been Mrs. J. H. Rodgers’ guest. Miss Joyce Wainright has been the guest of Mrs. J. Kettles, Toko. Miss Phyllis Bourke. Napier, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Bourke. Mr. and Mrs. W. Downey and family have returned from Auckland. Miss Helen Jones is an inmate of the Patea Hospital. Rev. E. F. Farr is visiting Auckland. Mr. J. M. Clarkson has returned from Stratford. Mr. W. K. Howitt, who has been a delegate to the Hospital Board’s conference, was a visitor to Patea before returning to Auckland. Mr. J. Moore, who has been in charge of the cooperage at the local freezing works, severed his personal connection with the company on Saturday after 20 years' service. At the Girl Guides’ committee meeting last week, the president, Mrs. F. Ramsbottom, welcomed Miss Hamerton back after illness. The secretary reported that all Guides whose names had been given in had been insured under the provincial insurance scheme and that the church parade would be held on Sunday, 12th. inst. It was decided to hold the matter of founder’s day over for the present. TAIHAPE Capt. L. W. Andrew. V.C., visited the military camp at Waiouru during the week-end. Capt. Andrew is quartermaster-general of the Central Command, Wellington, and arrived in Taihape on Friday evening. He was accompanied by Lieut. Thornton. Messrs. E. E. Owen and C. H. Derbidge were the guests of Capt. Andrew at the camp during the weekend. Mr. Henry Watson, of Messrs. R. Wilson and' Co., left Taihape tor Palmerston North, yesterday, and from there travelled bj’ plane tu Christchurch, where he will represent the Taihape Circuit at the annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand. Later he will continue on a (our of the South Island. MARTON Sergeant and Mrs. T. F, Brenchley, who spent the week-end with friends in New Plymouth, returned to Marton yesterday. Dr. T. Gerald Harpur and Mrs. Harpur, High Street, have returned from a motor tour of the East Coast, Rotorua and Auckland districts. OHAKUNE Mrs. H. Morrow has returned home from the Wanganui Hospital. She is now greatly improved in health.
