WEDDING

HOLDEN—HODGSON The wedding took place recently at St. Stephen’s Church, Marton, of Ella Catherine Margaret, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Hodgson, Marton, and Albert James, youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Holden, of Port Chalmers. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Wm. Raine, and Mr. Sutcliffe presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white lace over satin, made on slim fitting lines and falling into a train. The neckline was heart shaped and the long tightfitting sleeves formed a point over the hands. The beautifully embroidered veil was held in place by a halo of 'orange blossoms and pleated tulle and was worn over the face during the ceremony. She carried a sheaf of St. Joseph's lilies.

The bridesmaid, Miss Daphne Miscall, wore a frock of primrose satin, cut on similar lines to the bride’s gown but made with short puffed sleeves. She wore a shoulder veil of tulle to tone, held in place by a spray of roses, and carried a bouquet of roses, gladioli and maidenhair fern. Mr. William Pilet, of Auckland, carried out the duties of best man. The reception was held at Gould's Tearooms, the bride’s mother receiving the guest wearing an ensemble of navy and white sheer, with navy hat. She carried a posy to tone. The bridegroom’s mother wore a frock of navy floral crepe with navy coat and hat. She carried a posy in autumn tints. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs. N. B. Caiman. Wanganui and beautifully iced and decorated ■by Mrs. Kennerley, of Levin. When the bride and bridegroom left for a motor tour of the north the bride wore a smart navy costume, white satin blouse, with navy hat and accessories to match. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Holden will live in Marton.
