SOCIAL AND PERSONAL
Miss Phyllis Beynon, of the Wellington Public Hospital, who has been spending her annual leave with her parents at Wanganui East, has returned.
Mrs. F. J. Shadbolt, Fordell, arrives in Wanganui to stay with relatives for a few days before leaving next week for Sydney. She will be accompanied by her sister, Miss Noonan.
The dancing season has already opened at the Braemar School of Dancing (Muriel Swann, principal), room 3 Selwyn Buildings, and the signs are that both young and old are taking a keen interest in an art which is as old as time itself.
Mrs. M. H. Chatfield, M.8.E., J.P., lady editor of the Evening Post, Wellington, has retired from the position after twenty-five years’ service. She was farewelled by the staff and presented with a suitably inscribed barometer and thermometer attached and a cheque. Reference was made to the fine service Mrs. Chatfield had performed for the Post and the sincere regal'd and affection in which she was held by the staff, also to the high esteem in which she was held by the whole community, notably women's organisations.
