Results were; — Men’s singles: Ingle beat Cam- | bourne, 9-3; Mcßae beat Simson, 9-2; Edwards beat Bosher, 9-7; Priest beat Matthews, 9-0; C. McKenna lost to Coutts, 7-9; T. Quickenden beat bimson, 9-5. Women’s singles: J. Barnes lost to S. Johnston, 3-7; A. Barker lost to N. Heginbotham, 3-7; J. Clarke lost to M. Walker, 4-7; Mrs. Priest lost to j. Southcombe, 4-7; K. Hills lost to D. Simson, 4-7; M. Roots lost to D. Matthews, 1-7. Men’s doubles: Ingle and Mcßae beat Cambourne anti Simson, 9-4; Edwards and Priest beat Bosher ancl Matthews, 9-2; McKenna and Quickenden lost to Coutts ancl Simson, 7-9. Women’s doubles: J. I Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boyle are holidaying in Hawke’s Bay. Master Ray Pettigrew has returneu home from the Patea Hospital. Mrs. A. Chara, Arenui, has been visiting Patea. Miss Helen Hamerton has returneu to New Plymouth Girls’ High School. Miss Nellie Carey has retnrned from Auckland. Mr. ancl Mrs. P. A. Bourke have returned from a visit to Wanganui. I An engagement recently announced of local interest is Joan Seymour, cider daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Clark, Portland Quay, Patea, to Ronald Stanley, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Clarke, Victoria Street, Hawera.
