WEMBLEY PASSES
A TRANSFORMATION DEMOLISHING THE BUILDINGS VERY FEW LEFT STANDING LONDON, Dee. 9. Sic transit gloria Wembley. A year has sufficed to turn the ornlate pavilions into factories, Taundrics, and garages throughout the country. According to the demolition contractor, Mr Au J. Elvin, the concrete walls of the famous Palace of Beauty now form tho foundation of the new arterial roads from London. The Ceylon pavilion is a coach-building factory in London. The Nigeria pavilion is a garage at Preston. The Palestine pavilion as la laundry at Glasgow, and others are being used abroad. Mr. Elvin has now contracted to demolish the Dominions’ pavilions, from which ho expects to obtain 15,000 tons of steel. The Australian and Canadian pavilions conttiin 2500 tons of timber apiece, and will provide material for several factories. Only the solid-built Palace of Engineering, housing the hall of arts, civic hall, the conference hall, the theatre, and the Stadium, are to be allowed to remain.
