FACTORY FIRE

A SPECTACULAR BLAZE BURNING BUILDING COLLAPSES. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Dec. 10. What eventually became one of the fiercest and most spectacular fires seen in Dunedin for some time broke out at 7.45 this evening in the pattern shop of the Dunedin Engineering and Steel Company, Limited. The building was a galvanised iron one, the ground floor being used mostly for the storage of timber. The patternmaking department was on the upper storey, and despite the efforts of the. brigade the fire raged until 9.30, when the whole structure collapsed. Neither the insurances nor the amount of loss were available to-night, though the latter must be severe as the patterns burned, though not valuable intrinsically, will cause a heavy loss on account of the large amount of work held up.
