constitute a conspicuous feature. Their number is legion, their variety remarkable. There is the tall lady, the fat children, sundry, freaks of nature, a circus, a riding gallery, an up-to-date nterry-go-round, the "horses" of which not only "go round," but also imitate the "up and down" motion of the horse proper, and a really clever company of American entertainers. In addition to these, there is "English Jack," who swallows slimy frogs ariS deadly poisons, and, •barefooted, performs lively dances on broken glass; a "palace of wonders and temple of mysteries," the "bill of fare" containing the scientific illusion of the "decapitated princess" and the "banker's safe mystery," Maskelyne's cabinet, and the crystal fountain ; and last, but not least, Lock and Beckford's (the veteran Beckford) waxworks exhibition, and Punch and Judy Show. Most of these side shows will, no doubt, find their way to Wanganui, but the exceutive should at least endeavour to secure the presence of the best of them, notably the American Entertainers, Redael'li's merry-go-round, and Beckford's Punch and Judy Show,
