ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

DUNEDIN, October 24. At the inquest at Beaumont on Alexander McGregor, who was drowned off the Golden River dredge at' Roxburgh, the jury found (that death was due to a fall from the dredge, caused by a defective hand rail, and added 1a rider fhat the dredgemaster should have seen to the railing immediately on receiving notice from the Inspector. The jury, expressed, the opinion that I tib& staunchions were not strong enough for the work required. AUCKLAND, October 24. The Coroner concluded an inquest concerning the death of Alexander Murrison, who was found a fortnight ago in a dying state in the passage of & house in Chapel street, and expired the following day.
Dr. James M6ir ; who conducted a post-mortem examination, stated that the cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage. One fall oould account for all the marks on the body. The condition of the kidneys might have led to such dizziness as may have occasioned the fall.
Detective Millar said he had made exhaustive inquiries into the case, and had found the circumstances consistent with the evidence given. Tho Coroner, in summing up, said the evidence pointed to the probability that Murrison met hi 3 death in a perfectly natural way. It was for the jury to say how death resulted. There was no evidence to show that deceased met with any violence.
The jury return-ed a verdict that Alexander Murrison met his death as tho result of injuries received from a fall, but there is no evidence to show how he came by the fall.
