MASTERTON, October 24

At the Police Court to-day a young man named John MoEwen was enlarged with riotous and disorderly conduct, and with doing maliofous damage to property. The evidence given was to the effect tihat accused got mad drunk yesterday, and entered a house, and after disturbing things generally, armed himself witih a knife, scissors and a razor. He then sallied forth 'and took charge of tlhe street, threatening passers-by and frightening women and children. Accused was fined £3, in default fourteen days, and ordered to pay the damages, in default 48 hours, on the second dharge. . ■ . ' ' ■ - < OHRISTCHUROH, October 24. At the Magistrate's Court, to-day, Herbert Donald Jarvis was oommitted for trial on a charge of making a false declaration for the purpose of procuring a marriage certificate. Evidence was give that on October 9th, 1905, the acoused lhad made a declaration before the Registrar that he was a bachelor when he was married in June, 1904. Accused was..ia'bout to go through the marriage ceremony after procuring a certificate in October, 1905, but his mother objected on the ground that the first wife was alive.
