MASTERTON, October 23. William Apperley, aged twenty-four, was drowned in the Ruamahanga Riyei yesterday. Deceased was out fishing with two companions. The latter left him sitting on the bank and went lower down the stream. Judging by tho time at which deceased's watch stopped, the accident must have occurred a quarter of an hour after his mates left him. The body had been in the water about three hours when recovered. Deceased was a strong swimmer, but it is surmised that he was seized with a fit, to which he was subject, and fell into tho water in a s'tato of insensibility.
